Svetlana Maraš (1985, Serbia) is Serbian composer and sound artist. Her music education starts very early in her childhood and extends to composition studies at the University of Art in Belgrade and many workshops and courses worldwide (Bang on a Can Summer Institute, Columbia University, Mozarteum Summer Academy, KlangkunstBuhne at UDK etc.). She graduated from Helsinki Media Lab (Aalto University) where she also worked as a research assistant. Her compositions have been performed at the Darmstadt International Music Institute, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Izlog suvremenog zvuka (Zagreb), International Rostrum of Composers (Wroclaw) and played on numerous radio stations and in concerts and events worldwide. She was awarded scholarship for a residency at the Spatial Sound Institute (Budapest), where she worked on 2 Kinetic studies made for the 4DSOUND system. Svetlana Maraš’ work is closely related to radio – she composed radiophonic pieces for Radio Belgrade and ORF1 Kunstradio-Radiokunst, and was awarded Vitomir Bogic prize in 2013, for the best young radiophonic composer. Since September 2016 she is in charge of the Radio Belgrade’s Electronic Studio. She presented her work at places such as Ars Electronica (Linz), Ear we are festival (Biel), CTM (Berlin), Espace Multimedia Gantner (Bourogne), Onassis Cultural Center (Athens), Ausland (Berlin), A38 (Budapest), Alte Schmiede (Vienna), Simultan (Timisoara), MOTA Museum of Transitory Art (Ljubljana), Musem of Contemporary Art (Belgrade) among other.
